    • What is a GFCI outlet?

      This type of electrical outlet is designed to protect you from electrical shock if moisture is present. They are commonly found in bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor outlets, and garages. They feature test/reset buttons. Depress the “test” button to turn off the GFCI. The “reset” button turns it back on after it has tripped. If it doesn’t reset, you’ve got a problem and will need an electrician.

    • Why do my fuses blow?

      There are many factors that could be responsible for a blown fuse. It could be an overloaded circuit, too many electrical appliances on one circuit. It could be that a fuse is blown due to a power surge. The fuse may not have the appropriate capacity for the device it is there to protect. Or it could simply be that the fuse has become old, ineffective, and needs to be replaced.

      Determine the amperage requirements. Calculate the total square footage of livable space, not including unfinished basement, attic, garage, crawl spaces.     • I reset my home’s breaker, but I still have no power. What should I do?

      If you don’t have power after correctly resetting a circuit breaker, it may be a sign that the breaker is overloaded or that there is a short circuit or faulty wiring to blame. Seals Electric’s certified and licensed electricians inspect and test circuits to diagnose the problem. Breakers wear out over time. If a replacement is needed, we install a robust system with a new breaker panel and overload correction.

    • How do I know when an electrical outlet needs to be repaired or replaced?

      Damaged or loose electrical outlets are not only a nuisance; they are a fire hazard. We must look at each panel location to provide this quote as there are many variables that must be taken into account. Things like panel location, electrical system flexibility, feeder cable length, and, most importantly, the decision to repair or completely replace the panel are important pieces of information we must find out before we begin a job. To provide an accurate quote without this information is impossible.

    • What Is a Surge Protector and Do I Need One?

      A surge protector is a piece of equipment that suppresses the excess voltage in your system to prevent it from causing harm to your appliances and devices. You should get some to protect your appliances and devices from power surges.
